Virginia High School League's new transgender athletic policy requires sexual reassignment surgery and HRT

Giving the Commonwealth's high school league the benefit of the doubt its possible they thought they acted in a way that encouraged gender diversity in sports with the adoption of the state's first transgender high school athletic policy...or it could have been a preemptive strike to ensure that not one transgender student will ever play sports in Virginia.

Ether way the new policy which was passed 27-0, requires the exclusion of all teenage transgender athletes except the ones who have undergone sexual reassignment surgery and are undergoing hormone-replacement therapy (HRT).

The policy which requires surgical modifications of adolescents makes no distinction between male to female (MTF) and female to male (FTM) athletes.

The following is the draft that was presented to the Virginia High School executive committee Wednesday according to ABC 13 WEVC. It is unknown if there were any changes.

VHSL rules and regulations allow transgender student‐athlete participation under the following conditions:

A. A student‐athlete will compete in the gender of their birth certificate unless they have undergone sex reassignment.

B. A student‐athlete who has undergone sex reassignment is eligible to compete in the reassigned gender when:
The student‐athlete has undergone sex reassignment before puberty, OR
The student‐athlete has undergone sex reassignment after puberty under all of the following conditions:
a. Surgical anatomical changes have been completed, including external genitalia changes and gonadectomy.
b. Hormonal therapy appropriate for the assigned sex has been administered in a verifiable manner and for a sufficient length of time to minimize gender‐related advantages in sports competition.
c. If a student‐athlete stops taking hormonal treatment, they will be required to participate in the sport consistent with their birth gender.

C. A student‐athlete seeking to participate as a result of sex reassignment must access the VHSL eligibility appeals process.
Note: VHSL honors and respects all individuals based on gender, race, sexual orientation and creed while striving to provide safe and equitable competition.

The touchstone for transgender inclusion in high school athletics is AB 1266.
"(f) A pupil shall be permitted to participate in sex-segregated school programs and activities, including athletic teams and competitions, and use facilities consistent with his or her gender identity, irrespective of the gender listed on the pupil’s records."

WPATH treatment of adolescents displaying gender dysphoria (pg. 178) "Irreversible Interventions:Genital surgery should not be carried out until(i) patients reach the legal age of majority to
give consent for medical procedures in a given country and (ii) patients have lived continuously for at least 12 months in the gender role that is congruent with their gender identity. The age threshold should be seen as a minimum criterion and not an indication in and of itself for active intervention."

Pussy Riot arrested and beaten by police in Sochi 30 K's from the Olympic site

Two members of protest group Pussy Riot have been arrested by Russian police in Sochi, where Russia is holding the Winter Olympics, the activists said on Twitter.

Pussy Riot member Nadzehda Tolokonnikova says she has been detained and accused of robbery.

"We have been arrested... and are accused of robbery," she wrote on her twitter account.

"When we were arrested, we were not performing any kind of action, we were just walking around Sochi."

Her bandmate, Maria Alyokhina, said she had also been arrested.

The pair were arrested in central Sochi, about 30 kilometres north of the main Olympic venues.

Ms Tolokonnikova said she and Ms Alyokhina had already been in Sochi for more than a day, with the aim of performing a new song titled "Putin will teach you how to love the motherland".

She said that before their arrest they had already managed to stage "some Olympic performances" without giving further details.

They had both previously denounced the project spearheaded by Russian president Vladimir Putin to host the Games and called for a boycott of the Olympics.

The radical art group Voina (War), which is run by Ms Tolokonnikova's husband Pyotr Verzilov, said seven other people had been arrested as well as the Pussy Riot girls.

According to Ms Tolokonnikova, another unnamed third member of Pussy Riot was also arrested.

They were being taken in a police van to the police station in the Adler district which is closer to the Olympic venues.

The women were in 2012 convicted of hooliganism and sentenced to two years in prison colonies after staging their so-called "punk prayer" in the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow.

They were released in December last year under a Kremlin-backed amnesty.

The stunt came just ahead of Mr Putin's re-election to the Kremlin in March 2012 and was aimed at denouncing the Orthodox Church's support of the Russian strongman during the campaign.

Their jailing turned them from little-known feminist punks who staged a handful of guerrilla performances in Moscow to the stars of a global cause celebre symbolising the repression of civil dissent under Putin's rule.

Transgender woman Vladimir Luxuria detained again at the olympics, this time for a rainbow dress

True to her word transgender woman Vladimir Luxuria protested again in Sochi Russia at the winter Olympics. This time she walked around  for hours shouting 'its ok to be gay' in Russian and English.
Her actions garnered the attention of some who stood by and watched in disbelief, most likely wondering if it was OK to be gay.

The kids didn't notice that she was dressed
in the Olympic colors. Why would they?

Police stopped her from watching the hockey game despite
her showing them her ticket.

Luxuria arrived at a ticket inspection barrier at the hockey arena just before an evening game was due to begin. She passed through the barrier and was being given directions to her seat when four men who were not wearing any identification surrounded her and started shouting "take her away." They then led her out of the venue and to the parking lot.

"I was very, very afraid this time because the first time they said, 'It's OK for the first time, don't do it again for the second time.' So, this time I was a little bit afraid," Luxuria said. "But they just left me outside, in the country, there, outside and that's it."

Before she went to the stadium, Luxuria said she did not want to be arrested.

"It's not nice to be all alone in a room with a neon light not knowing what's going on," she said Monday afternoon, but then added it was important for her "to stand up for the rights of lesbian, gay and transgender people all over the world."

Transgender woman Vladimir Luxuria released by police at the Olympics is planning another demonstration

After a swift diplomatic intervention by the Italian government the popular TV personality was freed overnight and vowed to return to the Olympic site.
A spokesman for Italy’s Foreign Ministry told the Daily Mail: ‘Our team worked for her freedom from the very first moment. She was released within 24 hours.’
She was not injured or threatened by the Russian police, the Ministry said.
The popular TV personality, who was an MP in the 2006 Prodi government, was in Russia to interview members of the Italian Olympic team.
Miss Luxuria had earlier declared her intention to protest against the law by wearing drag to an Olympic hockey match to be attended by her namesake Vladimir Putin.

Luxuria told ANSA she plans to attend women's Olympic hockey semifinals Monday between Canada and Switzerland, and suggested she will demonstrate in some way, while stressing she was unsure if it would step over the boundaries of the law against gay propaganda in the presence of minors.

"In any case, I will not go unnoticed," Luxuria said. Luxuria added that she was in good condition, staying in a hotel in Sochi.

Yahoo Italia sports reports "Luxuria's post, in protest against homophobic laws of Vladimir Putin have prompted several state leaders to boycott the opening ceremony. Before the news of the arrest of transgender, born Wladimir Gain, had also issued a statement a spokesman for the Gay Center, Fabrizio Marrazzo."
